Excitement Builds for the Upcoming Film Ramayana
The anticipation surrounding Ramayana, one of the most highly anticipated films in Indian cinema, is reaching new heights, even though it’s still more than a year away from its release. This film promises to tell a story that resonates deeply with audiences in India. The star-studded cast has only added to the excitement, making fans eager for more details. Reports suggest that the teaser for the film will be revealed very soon.
The promotional video is set to debut on Thursday, July 3, at a multiplex in central Mumbai. According to the media announcement, this event will present ‘Ramayana: The Introduction,’ offering audiences their first look into the world of Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana, which is expected to be one of the landmark films in Indian cinema. However, details regarding the attendance of the cast and crew at the event remain unclear.
Speculations had circulated that the initial glimpse of Ramayana would be revealed at WAVES 2025, an event that took place from May 1-4, 2025. On May 5, a title announcement video lasting 2 minutes and 36 seconds received a ‘U’ rating from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Additionally, a 3-minute video was certified by the CBFC on June 23, also with a ‘U’ certificate.
The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Yash, known for his role in KGF, as Ravana. It is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, recognized for his previous successes with Dangal and Chhichhore.
At the WAVES event, Namit Malhotra of Prime Focus mentioned their goal to make Ramayana accessible around the world using advanced technology. He explained that they aim to localize the film in different languages, ensuring it feels native to various audiences. This innovative approach aims to deliver the film in English with lip-syncing, as well as providing versions in Spanish for Spain and Japanese for Japan, eliminating the need for subtitles or dubbed versions.
The first part of Ramayana is scheduled to hit theaters during Diwali 2026, followed by the second part set for Diwali 2027.
