The upcoming release of Sardaar Ji 3 has stirred up quite a debate due to the inclusion of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir alongside popular star Diljit Dosanjh. Prominent figures from the film industry, including filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, have voiced strong opposition, calling for a boycott of Diljit’s work.
In a recent interview, Ashoke Pandit emphasized the seriousness of the situation, labeling Diljit a "regular lawbreaker" for his continued support of Pakistani talent. "He has consistently promoted Pakistani performers and singers," he stated.
The controversy escalated when the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) formally approached the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. They urged these authorities not to issue a censor certificate for Sardaar Ji 3, effectively halting its release in India. Pandit noted that the Federation had quickly reacted to the film’s trailer, advocating against its approval.
This strong opposition stems from a previous non-cooperation notice issued by FWICE after the 2019 Pulwama attack. This notice prohibited collaborations between Indian film industry members and Pakistani artists. "No one—be it producers, directors, or technicians—should work with Pakistani performers," Pandit reiterated, underlining that the ruling remains effective and unchanged.
Furthermore, Ashoke Pandit called on producer associations and event organizers to disassociate from Diljit Dosanjh. He mentioned that they will release another notice asking all stakeholders in the industry to avoid hiring him for any projects or events, ensuring he is boycotted in India.
As of now, Sardaar Ji 3 is set to hit theaters on June 27, but its future in the Indian market remains uncertain amidst the growing backlash.
