The situation surrounding Ranveer Singh’s departure from Don 3 continues to make headlines in the film industry. Recently, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) retracted its non-cooperation order against the actor, but discussions remain active. Ashoke Pandit, a senior adviser to FWICE, has provided insights into the circumstances that led to the federation’s intervention. He noted that several influential figures, including Aamir Khan, made efforts to mediate the issue before FWICE became involved.
In a conversation with Hindi Rush, Ashoke explained that producers and directors had raised concerns with the federation about the project. They reported that about Rs 45 crores had already been spent on pre-production, with filming expected to start soon.
Ashoke claimed that Ranveer exited the film just weeks before shooting was set to begin. He mentioned that FWICE reached out to the actor to get his perspective. However, they did not receive a response, even after sending reminders for over a month.
According to Ashoke, after reviewing documents from Ranveer’s auditors, the federation was poised to announce the non-cooperation directive when they finally heard that a couple of representatives from Ranveer’s team would be meeting them.
He clarified that although FWICE took the situation seriously and moved forward with the directive, they did not impose a ban on Ranveer. He emphasized that everyone in the film industry should be held accountable.
Ashoke expressed that no one, be it an actor, director, or crew member, should be allowed to back out of a project at the last minute without facing repercussions. He added that many individuals, including Aamir Khan, had tried to resolve the issue before it escalated.
He stressed, “This situation with Ranveer could happen to anyone else in the future. If commitments have been made and money has been spent, those financial losses should be addressed.”
These comments have reignited discussions about the responsibilities and financial implications in large-scale filmmaking, focusing particularly on the Don 3 controversy.
