The Supreme Court has made it clear that mob rule cannot take over the streets, emphasizing that the film “Thug Life” must be released in Karnataka. The court stated, “The rule of law mandates that films cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) should be shown in every state.”
Addressing the Karnataka government, the court remarked, “If actor Kamal Haasan has made statements that spark debate, that’s fine, but it should not stop the film from being shown in theaters.”
The Supreme Court has given the Karnataka government one day to report back on the film’s release in the state, insisting that the rule of law must prevail. Additionally, the court pointed out that the Karnataka High Court was wrong to request an apology from Kamal Haasan regarding his comments and has now moved the case about “Thug Life” to the Supreme Court for further consideration.
