India’s youth leader Abhijeet Dipke, who founded the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), was released from custody on Saturday. This follows his arrest a day earlier during a police operation aimed at controlling protests against the election authority.
The 31-year-old activist was taken into custody on Friday in New Delhi while he was on his way to participate in a rally organized by the CJP in the bustling Connaught Place area of the city.
Upon his release Saturday afternoon, Dipke emerged from the police station, greeting the media with a wave and a thumbs-up before being driven away.
CJP’s head of legal affairs, Ratna Singh, confirmed Dipke’s release on social media, sharing the news with supporters.
