A coalition of diaspora organizations in the United Kingdom is organizing events to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service.
The inaugural event took place at the House of Lords on Saturday, led by Lord Rami Ranger, who is the chair of the Sardar Patel Memorial Society.
Attendees enjoyed a vibrant display of India’s cultural richness, featuring traditional dances from Assam and Odissi, a violin performance, and a ceremonial cake cutting.
According to the organizers, “At the center of these celebrations is the enduring Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which means the world is one family. This principle embodies universal values such as inclusion, peace, courage, happiness, prosperity, and fresh starts.”
They emphasized that while this event marks an important milestone, it is focused on non-political themes, stressing values of public service, inclusion, and success for all Indians.
In addition, the British Bharatiya Community—comprising groups like Indian Diaspora (ID) UK, Slough Mitra Mandal, and Shri Vitthal Rukmini Temple in Buckinghamshire—has announced a community gathering in Ruislip, west London, set for October 17.
This gathering aims to “strengthen community bonds and celebrate the values that unite us” as they honor Modi’s political journey. Organizers have described the upcoming “25 Years of Public Service” event as a way to “foster a spirit of optimism, friendship, and collective progress, creating opportunities for families and friends to come together in celebration.”
