The acclaimed revival of the musical “Chicago” is all set to make its debut in India next year. The show will be performed from January 21 to January 31, 2027, at the Grand Theatre located in Mumbai’s Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC). This production is brought to India by producers Barry and Fran Weissler, who are also behind the Broadway version of “Chicago,” along with David Ian from the global theater group Crossroads Live.
Since opening its doors in 2023, NMACC has become a vibrant hub for various international theater productions, featuring past favorites like “Wicked,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” and “Matilda.”
The revival of “Chicago” originally premiered on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on November 14, 1996. It later moved to the Shubert Theatre in 1997 and then to the Ambassador Theatre in 2003, where it continues to captivate audiences. With a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, and music and lyrics by John Kander and Ebb, the show has received significant acclaim, being nominated for eight Tony Awards and winning six, including Best Revival of a Musical.
In addition to its Broadway run and the exciting upcoming performance in Mumbai, “Chicago” is also scheduled to be showcased in Dubai this December, along with a tour throughout the U.K. and Ireland next year.
