US Ambassador Hosts Regional Conference in New Delhi

New Delhi, September 30 – On Tuesday, United States Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, welcomed American diplomats to the US Ambassadors Regional Conference in India. The gathering included envoys and chiefs of missions from various countries in South and Central Asia, aimed at discussing regional objectives and enhancing diplomatic efforts.

In a friendly note on social media platform X, Gor expressed enthusiasm for the meeting, saying, “Great to have all our SCA Ambassadors in India!”

The conference successfully brought together representatives from eleven nations under the South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) bureau. The discussions focused on aligning strategic, economic, and security goals among the participating countries.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also highlighted the significance of the meeting. He shared his thoughts on X, stating, “Earlier today, I joined our Ambassadors Regional Conference in India, led by Ambassador Sergio Gor. It was wonderful to connect with our U.S. Ambassadors and Chiefs of Mission from countries including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Our ambassadors are diligently working to make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous!”

On a personal note, Gor took time on Monday to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar, a notable Sikh site, paying his respects at this sacred shrine. He also explored historical sites including Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum. Sharing his experiences on X, he reflected on his visit as “a memorable day” and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received.

As part of his journey since becoming the US Ambassador to India, Gor has traveled to various regions, including Srinagar and Leh. During his recent visit to Rajasthan, he observed Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2026, which is India’s largest bilateral defense exercise. Upon arriving at the Mahajan Field Firing Range, he shared his excitement on X, stating, “Just touched down at Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan for Yudh Abhyas 2026. I’m looking forward to seeing U.S. and Indian troops train side by side.”

Gor later expressed his admiration for the joint training of U.S. and Indian forces, emphasizing the strength of their defense partnership and shared objectives. He remarked, “Impressive to see U.S. and Indian forces training together. This exercise showcases our defense partnership, trust, readiness, interoperability, and shared purpose.”

This visit marks another step in Gor’s efforts to engage with India and strengthen ties between the two nations.
