About 6,000 ethnic Korean businesspeople from around the world are set to meet in Shenzhen, China, to establish robust business networks and explore new export opportunities.
The World Federation of Overseas Korean Traders Associations (World-OKTA) has announced that the 30th World-OKTA Korean Business Convention will take place at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from October 8 to 11. The main event, the 2026 Korea Business Expo Shenzhen, is scheduled for two days on October 9 and 10.
This gathering will include officials from South Korean and Chinese governments, representatives from South Korean cities, domestic and international organizations, companies looking to expand globally, members of World-OKTA, and overseas buyers.
Notably, around 550 companies, including World-OKTA members and businesses seeking to enter foreign markets, will participate in the expo and meetings focused on export agreements. This aims to foster partnerships and cement actual contracts.
On the opening day, October 8, attendees can expect industrial tours of local businesses, registration and check-ins, followed by a welcoming dinner. The expo and export consultations will take place on October 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This day will also feature the 2026 OKTA Global Startup Competition, networking sessions for South Korea-China investment cooperation, and the Night of Commerce.
The expo and consultations will continue on October 10, alongside branch presidents’ meetings, leadership discussions, board meetings, an extraordinary general meeting, and the closing ceremony.
The convention aims to strengthen connections between overseas Korean business leaders and domestic companies, while also assisting South Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in reaching international markets. It will facilitate consultations between overseas Korean buyers and local businesses, as well as offer local governments opportunities to attract investments and tourism.
A significant delegation from North America is also visiting Shenzhen. Kim Chang-joo, president of OKTA LA, mentioned, “A total of 55 Korean business representatives in trade from LA are heading to Shenzhen,” expressing hope that being in such a high-tech city would enhance exchanges and development opportunities. Additionally, around 60 members from places like New York, Denver, and Atlanta are also expected to attend.
