The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has recently made headlines for its unexpected decision to approve films without requiring cuts. Following this trend, the board cleared the much-anticipated movie, “Drishyam The Conclusion,” starring prominent actors Ajay Devgn and Tabu, with a U/A 16+ certification and without any edits.
This decision was surprising as the CBFC is often associated with demanding changes to films deemed unnecessary. The approval came on September 28, and the movie has a runtime of 150 minutes, or 2 hours and 30 minutes. Notably, there were no requests for any modifications, which is a rare move for the board. In some instances, the CBFC usually asks filmmakers to add specific messages or alter certain parts of the film, but that wasn’t the case here.
“Drishyam The Conclusion” is now the second film in the “Drishyam” series to receive a U/A certificate without any cuts, following “Drishyam 2,” which was released in 2022. This latest installment also ranks as the second-longest movie in the series, with the first film from 2015 having a slightly longer runtime of 162 minutes.
The film features a strong cast, including Shriya Saran, Jaideep Ahlawat, Prakash Raj, and others, and is directed by Abhishek Pathak. Audiences can look forward to its release in theaters on October 2.
