Kerala Blasters FC Announces Ownership Change
Kerala Blasters FC has confirmed that its current owners, Magnum Sports Private Limited, have agreed to sell the football club in a deal for complete ownership. While the specific details about the new owners have not been publicly shared, various sources suggest that a consortium from the UAE led by Sheikh Ahmed bin Faisal Al Qassimi is in line to take over.
The transfer of ownership will take place gradually, with a completion timeline set through the 2026-27 season. Kerala Blasters reassured fans and partners that all club activities and commitments will proceed without any interruptions as the new group starts to manage the day-to-day operations. The identity of the new owners will be revealed at a later date.
In their official statement, Kerala Blasters said, “The transaction will be completed in phases through the 2026/27 season. All club operations will continue seamlessly, with the new ownership taking charge of day-to-day management.”
Reports have previously mentioned Sheikh Ahmed bin Faisal Al Qassimi, who comes from the Sharjah royal family and is an established businessman, as a significant player in this ownership change. There are also suggestions that investment may come through Al Fursan Sports Investment, though Kerala Blasters has yet to officially confirm any specifics regarding the new ownership or the involved company. Local media has reported that Al Qassimi’s group is poised to acquire the club.
Farewell from Outgoing Owners
The current shareholders of Kerala Blasters expressed that the decision to sell the club was a tough one. They reflected on their journey, noting that the club had grown into something extraordinary over time. They acknowledged the deep connection fans have with the team, stating, “This decision was made after much thought, understanding what Kerala Blasters means to the community.”
The owners emphasized that they have laid a strong foundation for the club’s future. “We are proud to leave Kerala Blasters in a better place, ready for the changes ahead in Indian football and poised for further growth,” they added.
Shifting Ownership in the Indian Super League
Kerala Blasters is not alone in this ownership transformation, as other teams in the Indian Super League (ISL) have also experienced significant changes. For example, Jindal Football Private Limited acquired the sporting license for Hyderabad FC in 2024, leading to a rebranding of the club as Sporting Club Delhi after its move to the capital.
In another notable case, Jamshedpur FC transitioned significantly in August 2026, when Tata Steel sold its entire stake to Churchill Brothers Sports Club for just Rs 100. This deal included the club’s ISL sporting license, along with contracts for 12 players and two coaches.
