Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli reunited for their first training session in Thiruvananthapuram, gearing up for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies. This highly anticipated moment occurred on Thursday, September 24, at the Greenfield International Stadium, as both players prepared for the series opener set for Sunday.
The last time Kohli and Rohit played together for India was during the ODI tour of England back in July. Their latest appearance was in the third ODI at Lord’s on July 14. After more than two months away from international cricket, they returned to the nets, ready to take on their new challenge against the West Indies.
During the training session, both batsmen showcased their skills. Kohli looked particularly sharp, confidently attacking the bowlers with his signature shots. He even hit a beautiful six off Kuldeep Yadav and displayed his typical flair with a powerful straight drive off Naman Dhir.
Rohit, who batted in a later group after a brief rain delay, focused on fine-tuning his batting technique. He seemed to be preparing for the pace attack of the West Indies, asking bowler Prasidh Krishna to deliver short balls to get ready for the upcoming matches.
The Indian team trained from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm IST, using this time to adjust to the playing conditions before the series kicks off. Rohit and Kohli joined captain Shubman Gill and the rest of the squad in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday.
The ODI series will start on September 27 at the Greenfield International Stadium, with the second match set for Guwahati on September 30, and the final game scheduled for October 3 in New Chandigarh. For both Rohit and Kohli, this series is an important step in their ODI careers, adding valuable experience to a young team led by Gill, especially with the 2027 ODI World Cup in sight.
