Bentley has officially introduced the Torcal, its first all-electric SUV, signaling a significant shift towards electric vehicles for the luxury brand. This new model is set to make its debut in India by mid-2027. The Torcal is the fourth car in Bentley’s lineup, blending the brand’s signature luxury with an innovative electric powertrain. Even without the traditional V8 engines, the Torcal delivers impressive performance, with the Torcal S racing from 0 to 100 km/h in a swift 2.9 seconds.
### New Design Approach for the Torcal
Designed and engineered in Crewe, the Torcal showcases a fresh design direction for Bentley. The front of the SUV features a long bonnet and short overhangs, complemented by a striking nose. The back of the vehicle includes prominent haunches and a sleek roofline. The illuminated diamond-pattern grille and updated lighting give the Torcal a contemporary look while retaining some classic Bentley design elements.
### Luxury Interior Enhanced with Technology
Inside, the Torcal offers a seamless blend of Bentley’s traditional materials and the latest technology. The dashboard maintains the brand’s iconic wing-inspired design, using leather, wool, wood veneer, and aluminum throughout the space. The front seats come with 16-way adjustments, heating, ventilation, adjustable bolsters, and even massage functions. For passengers in the rear, there is a three-seat bench equipped with power-folding capabilities.
### Impressive Power and Range
Under the hood, the Torcal boasts two permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors, powered by an 800V electrical system. It features a 113kWh battery pack, producing up to 885 horsepower and 1,350Nm of torque. The Torcal S can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 260 km/h. Bentley claims the SUV can deliver a WLTP range of up to 600 km. Additionally, it supports charging at an impressive 400kW, allowing the battery to go from 10 to 80 percent in about 16 minutes with a compatible charger. A quick seven-minute charge can also provide up to 161 km of range.
### Advanced Suspension and Steering Features
The Torcal is equipped with advanced technologies aimed at enhancing its ride and handling. Notably, it is the first Bentley to feature fully active suspension. The SUV also includes adaptive two-valve dampers and standard rear-wheel steering, allowing the rear wheels to turn by as much as five degrees. This helps reduce the turning circle to just 11.1 meters, making the large SUV easier to navigate in tighter spaces.
### Comprehensive Driver Assistance Technologies
Bentley has loaded the Torcal with numerous driver assistance features. Utilizing a combination of 25 radars, sensors, and cameras, the SUV offers automated reversing, towing, parking assistance, remote parking, and a learning system for specific parking maneuvers. The four doors can also be opened and closed electronically, enhancing the luxury experience.
### Unique Sound Experience for the Electric Bentley
Instead of replicating the sound of a traditional petrol engine, Bentley has created a new sound for the Torcal called Dynamic Symphony. This system uses real instruments, such as drums, viola, and bass guitar, inspired by the rhythm of the brand’s V8 engines.
### Upcoming Launch in India
The Bentley Torcal is expected to arrive in India around mid-2027, although the company has yet to reveal pricing details for the Indian market. Once it launches, the Torcal will be the first electric SUV from Bentley in India, promising a range of 600 km alongside high-performance features and a plethora of luxury and driver assistance technologies.
