Emergency Landing After Turbulent Flight in Iran
An Iranian flight experienced a terrifying ordeal on Tuesday, as chaotic shaking rocked the cabin, leading to significant damage. Passengers aboard a Sepehran Airlines Boeing 737, flying from Mashhad to Kermanshah, found themselves in a panic when overhead compartments and parts of the ceiling fell during the flight.
Reports indicate that the aircraft may have encountered engine issues and a blown tire at takeoff, creating the conditions for the unsettling turbulence. Passengers were caught off guard as debris rained down, resulting in shouts and prayers from those on board, who instinctively shielded themselves from the falling objects.
In response to the alarming situation, the pilot declared an emergency and safely landed the plane back at Mashhad Hashemi Nejad International Airport. Fortunately, no one was injured among the 127 people on the flight, according to reports from Jam Press.
The incident temporarily closed one of the airport’s runways as authorities began their investigation. Amid the turmoil, affected passengers were rebooked on another flight to reach their intended destinations.
This unsettling event underscores the challenges facing Iran’s aviation sector, which has struggled for years due to decades of international sanctions. These constraints have left local airlines relying on outdated aircraft and facing difficulties in sourcing modern maintenance supplies.
