Sharon Regional Health System Employees Report Missing Paychecks

Several employees at Sharon Regional Health System in Sharon have reported issues with their paychecks, with some stating they did not receive them by Friday evening.

Peter Bastone, the CEO of Sharon Regional Health System, assured employees that they should see their paychecks credited to their accounts by Monday, September 14. He explained that the delay stemmed from the payroll department missing the 5 p.m. deadline. This payroll hiccup follows the hospital’s recent upgrade to a new operational IT system, which has caused complications in processing payroll for the last few pay periods.

Bastone emphasized that despite the paycheck issues, healthcare services at the hospital have not been affected, and the hospital’s patient satisfaction scores remain high.

Challenges facing Sharon Regional Health System have been well-documented, particularly regarding financial struggles. Tenor Health Partners, which operates the hospital, owes various agencies large sums of money in loans. These loans were crucial for helping the hospital reopen and continue its operations, which Bastone acknowledged has been a challenge over recent times.

In previous statements, Bastone expressed concerns about the previous management’s decisions. He remarked that the prior operator, Steward, should not have closed the hospital, suggesting that alternatives existed that could have allowed it to navigate financial challenges more effectively. The closing led to complicated processes for obtaining new licenses and retaining staff.

Among the debts owed, assistance from the Penn-Northwest Development Corporation included a significant loan of $9.15 million, along with other supports that have been reported to aid in the hospital’s reopening efforts.

This situation highlights the ongoing struggles of the Sharon Regional Health System as it continues to work through its financial difficulties while ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services to the community.
