Sagar Pictures Entertainment has recently revealed the first teaser poster for its much-anticipated film, Shrimad Bhagavatam Part I: Vishnurata. This film marks the beginning of an exciting seven-part series.
The title “Vishnurata,” which means “the one protected by Vishnu,” sets a spiritual tone for this cinematic experience. The initial poster provides a sneak peek into the film’s universe, focusing on divine protection as a central theme.
Sagar Pictures is well-known for creating the iconic television series Ramayan back in 1987. With Shrimad Bhagavatam, they are adapting one of India’s most sacred texts, the Bhagavatam Mahapurana, which has been cherished by millions around the globe. The Bhagavatam is centered around Lord Shri Krishna, exploring deep themes of devotion, duty, and the unique bond between humans and the divine.
Co-directors Akash Sagar Chopra and Amrit Sagar Chopra shared their thoughts on the film, emphasizing that the tales of the Bhagavatam have been a part of their lives since childhood. They believe these stories are not just spiritual teachings, but are deeply embedded in the cultural memory of India. They paid tribute to their grandfather, who was instrumental in bringing Ramayan to life, stating that while they cannot replicate his achievement, they wish to carve out a new cinematic path that resonates with today’s audience.
The brothers noted that for six years, they immersed themselves in understanding the Bhagavatam before they felt ready to adapt it for the screen. They realized that Part I: Vishnurata required a unique approach, given its grand scope and imaginative content.
They highlighted the importance of staying true to the traditional images associated with the divine, wanting to present them with authenticity and realism that modern cinema allows. Their aim with Vishnurata is to revive these sacred visuals and offer viewers an immersive experience of the Bhagavata Mahapurana on a grand scale.
Shrimad Bhagavatam Part I: Vishnurata is co-directed by award-winning filmmakers Akash and Amrit Sagar Chopra, who are also the grandsons of the late Ramanand Sagar. The film is now in the final production stages and promises to deliver an unprecedented visual experience.
Scheduled for release in theaters worldwide in 2027, Shrimad Bhagavatam Part I: Vishnurata will be available in all premium formats, marking an exciting addition to cinematic storytelling.
