Army Saves Young Girl from Raging River in J&K
In Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, Army personnel recently sprang into action to rescue a young girl from the strong currents of a seasonal river, preventing her from being swept away towards Pakistan.
Around 1:10 PM on Friday, soldiers from the 30 Punjab Regiment, stationed at a forward post, noticed a girl, estimated to be around 14 to 15 years old, struggling in the turbulent waters of the Mendhar nullah near Balnoi, which runs into the Roshni-Mandi area.
Without hesitation, the brave soldiers jumped into the river, managing to pull the girl out of the water while she was unconscious. She was immediately taken to the Mankote primary health center for medical care. Local police, health officials, and the village head were also on the scene to assist.
Fortunately, the girl, who is a resident of Balnoi, has since stabilized, and her family has been updated about her condition. The prompt and courageous actions of the Army personnel undoubtedly saved her life.
