Jammu: Kashmiri Pandits Demand Separate Homeland and Genocide Law
A group representing displaced Kashmiri Pandits held a hunger strike on Saturday, calling for a separate homeland in the Kashmir Valley for their rehabilitation. They are also advocating for a specific law addressing genocide.
Tito Ganju, the chairperson of Panun Kashmir, emphasized that as a member of the UN Genocide Convention, India has a responsibility to implement a law for the protection against genocide.
The organization has outlined several key demands, which include recognizing the genocide faced by Kashmiri Pandits, passing a Genocide Bill, creating a separate Union Territory to serve as a safe homeland, providing 15,000 jobs in central government departments for unemployed and older youth, and increasing financial assistance and monthly relief for those affected.
