Kai Trump, the 19-year-old granddaughter of former President Donald Trump, recently opened up about her emotional transition to college life. In a video shared on her YouTube channel, she took viewers through her first week at the University of Miami, highlighting both the excitement and the challenges she faced.
The video begins with Kai documenting her final moments in Jupiter, Florida, as she prepares to move into her new apartment and join the women’s golf team as a freshman. In a candid moment during a drive home after playing golf, she admitted feeling overwhelmed by the idea of leaving her home. “I’ve been literally sobbing,” she shared, expressing her mixed emotions about saying goodbye to her family and friends.
Despite her natural tendency to keep her emotions in check, Kai noted how difficult it was to part ways. “It’s really sad that I have to say goodbye to everyone today. I’m not usually this emotional, so this feels really strange,” she explained.
Once she arrived in Miami, her best friend Emma came to help her settle in and made sure she had enough food to get her through the busy moving process. “Emma got me some frozen foods because I haven’t eaten in like three days,” Kai mentioned, highlighting her hectic schedule.
As she adjusted to college life, Kai shared how early the days could be, starting with a 7 a.m. team meeting on her first Monday. “You can probably tell by my face that I’m very tired,” she joked while getting ready, revealing the demanding nature of balancing academics and athletics.
Though excited about her new adventure, her first week was interrupted when she fell ill with strep throat. “I got sick on Wednesday of my first week of school and had to return to Jupiter because I needed my mom to help me recover,” she recounted, explaining the ups and downs of starting college.
