A technology firm from Southampton has made it to the finals of three awards that celebrate innovation in the region.
Labl.it, which specializes in digital food labeling software for the hospitality industry, has been nominated in the South Coast Tech and Innovation Awards 2026 in three different categories: Innovative Tech of the Year, Tech SME of the Year, and South Coast Tech Company of the Year.
Kyle Wilks, the co-founder and CEO of Labl.it, expressed his excitement about being a finalist. “It’s a thrilling time for us to be recognized in three categories. Each nomination reflects our hard work and dedication to solving real problems in commercial kitchens while also growing our business right here on the south coast,” he said.
Labl.it was founded in 2021 by Kyle, Rhys Wilks, and Sean Larsen. The company focuses on replacing traditional handwritten food labels with a digital system to enhance food safety and increase efficiency in commercial kitchens. Over the past year, Labl.it has seen impressive growth, expanding its customer base by 55% and increasing its workforce by 50%. Now, more than 3,500 commercial kitchens across the UK utilize their technology.
Recently, Labl.it moved to a bigger office at Southampton Science Park to support its expanding team and accommodate future growth.
The South Coast Tech and Innovation Awards aim to recognize outstanding achievements in the technology sector of the region, showcasing the businesses and individuals who are leading innovation and development.
The winners will be announced in October at a ceremony taking place at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in Southampton. At that time, Labl.it will find out if it has won in any of its nominated categories. For more details about their digital food labeling solutions, you can check their website.
