Korean director Na Hong-jin’s highly anticipated sci-fi action thriller, titled HOPE, is gearing up for its release in Indian theaters on September 25, 2026. The film features a star-studded cast, including Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, and Hoyeon, alongside Hollywood actors like Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender. Audiences in India can enjoy the movie in multiple languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Korean.

This marks Na Hong-jin’s return to feature films after a ten-year hiatus. He is well-known for his previous works such as The Chaser, The Yellow Sea, and The Wailing. In HOPE, he brings together elements of science fiction, survival, and action to create an engaging narrative.

A Glimpse into the Story

Set in a fictional village called Hope Harbor, which is located near the Demilitarized Zone, the plot unfolds as residents report sightings of a strange creature. What starts as a curious occurrence soon escalates into a major threat, forcing authorities to respond to a growing crisis.

Na Hong-jin shares his thoughts on the film, stating, “With HOPE, I aim to explore the basic human fear of facing an unknown creature, progressing into a tale about survival and the instinctual reactions that fear provokes.” He emphasized his desire to create a film that feels intense and unpredictable while delivering the grandeur and excitement of a cinematic experience. He expressed his enthusiasm for Indian audiences to witness this captivating world on the big screen.

International Buzz and Success

HOPE had its world premiere at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, competing for the prestigious Palme d’Or. This is Na Hong-jin’s fourth consecutive feature to be honored with a Cannes selection, following his earlier acclaimed films.

The film also made a significant impact at the South Korean box office, recording over 330,000 admissions on its opening day, setting a record as the biggest launch for a film in 2026 in South Korea. Additionally, it has been distributed across more than 200 territories.

Excitement for Indian Audiences

The Indian release of HOPE is being managed by Star Entertainment, which is eager to share this thrilling film with a diverse audience. Jiten Hemdev, the Managing Director and CEO of Star Entertainment Pvt Ltd., expressed his excitement about bringing HOPE to India. He noted the film’s growing buzz in South Korea and on the international festival scene, highlighting its unique mix of sci-fi, suspense, and action.

With its release in five different languages, Hemdev hopes to make this ambitious and critically acclaimed film accessible to audiences across India. He invites viewers to experience the thrill of HOPE in cinemas.

Mark your calendars for the theatrical release of HOPE on September 25, 2026.
