Initially, the filmmakers were in talks with Jio Studios for collaboration, but those discussions have since fallen through. Before that, there were also attempts to team up with Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films, but those did not come to fruition either.
Now, there seems to be new hope with producer Namit Malhotra expressing interest in joining the project. Malhotra, known for his work with Prime Focus, which has a strong reputation in visual effects, may bring crucial expertise to the table. His involvement could align perfectly with the movie’s heavy reliance on VFX, especially after Prime Focus’s success on projects like Ramayana.
A source revealed that Ayan Mukerji’s company, Starlight Pictures Private Limited, which backed the original Brahmastra, still holds the rights to the film’s intellectual property. They are currently seeking a studio partner for the sequel, and discussions with Malhotra have progressed to an advanced stage, though they are not finalized yet.
In the past week, there was anticipation surrounding a partnership with Jio Studios, especially given that Star Studios was involved in the first Brahmastra.
