Aravind Adiga’s acclaimed novel, Last Man in Tower, is set to be adapted into a movie, which will hit Indian theaters on September 11, 2026. Directed by Ben Rekhi and produced by Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media, the film features a talented cast, including Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani, Divya Dutta, and Sukant Goel.

The story delves into themes of personal beliefs, changing relationships, and the tough decisions people face as their surroundings evolve. At the heart of the film is Masterji, a retired school teacher who finds himself increasingly isolated as those around him make different choices. His steadfastness in his beliefs creates tension within his close-knit community.

One of the key characters is Mrs. Puri, whose dreams and compromises are influenced by the chance for a new beginning. As events unfold, the film explores the conflicts that arise when individuals are faced with the possibility of change.

Manoj Bajpayee and Divya Dutta lead the central conflict, with Boman Irani playing a crucial role. This is a special moment, as it marks the first time Bajpayee and Irani will share the screen. The screenplay has been adapted by Sooni Taraporevala.

Director Ben Rekhi shared his excitement about the project, stating, “Bringing Last Man in Tower to life has been a rewarding journey with an amazing team. From Rana Daggubati’s production to Sooni Taraporevala’s writing, all inspired by Adiga’s incredible work. It’s been fascinating to see two cinematic giants, Manoj and Boman, collaborate for the first time. Divya adds significant depth to the film, making the combination of these actors truly special. This story captures the essence of community and family during challenging times and feels even more relevant today.”

Rana Daggubati, the film’s producer, expressed why the story is significant: “Last Man in Tower portrays a deeply human experience. It resonates universally while exploring the specific lives of its characters. The performances by Manoj, Divya, and Boman bring incredible richness to their roles. This film also marks an important milestone for Spirit Media, as it’s our first Hindi feature, reflecting our commitment to giving voice to fresh stories and perspectives.”

Last Man in Tower promises to take viewers on an engaging journey where personal choices, relationships, and community bonds intertwine. Don’t miss its theatrical release on September 11, 2026.
