Title: India Takes Action to Clear Encroachments Outside Pakistan High Commission
New Delhi: In a recent move, Indian officials have cleared queue liners and other encroachments from outside the visa section of the Pakistan high commission. This action, which occurred on Wednesday, follows the removal of parking poles and security barriers outside the Indian high commission in Islamabad earlier this week.
Sources indicate that the clearance took place on a side lane adjacent to the high commission, rather than directly at the main entrance. This step is perceived as a direct response to the earlier actions taken by Pakistan.
Officials mentioned that India hopes this would mark the end of the matter but warned that the government is prepared to react if Pakistan chooses to escalate the situation. Relations between India and Pakistan have been tense, particularly since the Pahalgam terror attack last year, which led India to reduce the number of diplomatic staff at its high commission in Islamabad from 55 to 30.
Despite these strained ties, both countries continue to maintain some level of communication, including discussions at the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) level, as well as exchanges regarding missile testing notifications, lists of nuclear facilities, and prisoners held by each side.
Visuals from the site showed a significant amount of debris left behind after the encroachments were removed. This included broken railings, twisted metal structures, and scattered bricks and concrete. Meanwhile, the main entrance of the high commission, characterized by its white walls and large gates featuring the Pakistani emblem, remained untouched.
This latest development highlights the ongoing complexities in India-Pakistan relations, with each nation keeping a close eye on the other’s actions.
