Bengal Cricketer Abishek Porel Arrested in Rape Case

The woman has filed a complaint claiming that Porel promised to marry her before engaging in a physical relationship.
On Tuesday, police took Porel into custody following an interrogation. He underwent a medical examination and was then presented in Chinsurah Court, where the case is now advancing through legal channels.
Allegations in the Complaint
According to the complaint, the woman alleges that she and Porel had an intimate relationship during which he vowed to marry her. However, she claims that after discovering Porel’s involvement with other women, their relationship soured. The complaint outlines allegations of sexual assault, intimidation, and unauthorized recording of private moments. The woman also reports being threatened and having private material misused.
One specific incident mentioned in the complaint took place in Delhi on April 2, 2026. The woman alleges that she was confined and not given food, which left her physically weakened and in need of medical care. Court Involvement
The case was escalated to the Calcutta High Court at the request of the complainant. The court ordered the police to take action, leading to Porel’s arrest. Additionally, the High Court instructed the Mogra Police to confiscate Porel’s electronic devices to prevent the sharing of any photographs or private content related to the complainant. Prior to this, police had already seized a pen drive for forensic analysis as part of the investigation.
