EPFO Faces Claim Delays After IT System Launch

NEW DELHI: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) recently introduced a new centralized system aimed at speeding up claims processing. However, just weeks after its implementation in early July, reports suggest that officials across the country are struggling with rising claim backlogs.

The EPF Officers Association (EPFOA) has expressed concerns in a letter to Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, stating that officials are often left without guidance to manage the increasing number of pending claims. They expected most claims to be settled within 2-3 days, but instead, many auto claims have remained unresolved for over 20 days, leaving both employees and field offices in the dark.

In response, EPFO has stated that the transition to the new enterprise-wide platform caused only minor disruptions. They maintain that the temporary rise in pending claims is a result of this transition and are working to address the issues.

As the situation develops, the EPFO remains focused on improving services for its members.
