Sunny Deol’s upcoming action film, tentatively titled Parshuram, has faced unexpected delays. Reports indicate that the film, which is expected to be a large-scale thriller directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, has been postponed indefinitely due to Bhat’s commitment to a Hollywood project.
The movie was originally set to begin filming in October 2026, with backing from Madhu Mantena and Mythri Movie Makers. However, Bhat has now moved on to direct Deadlocked, an action thriller for Amazon MGM Studios that stars Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx. This opportunity marks a significant achievement in Bhat’s career and comes after nearly two years of discussions regarding his Hollywood debut.
As Bhat focuses on this new film, the timeline for Parshuram has been pushed to 2027. Producers are currently weighing their options — whether to wait for Bhat’s return or to bring in another director for the project. In the meantime, Mythri Movie Makers is considering fast-tracking another film, Jaat 2, although discussions are still in the early stages.
On the other hand, Sunny Deol remains busy with several projects. He is set to hit theaters on August 14 with Lahore 1947, followed by Gabru directed by Shashank Udapurkar. Additionally, he is slated to portray Lord Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s much-anticipated Ramayana, which will be released on November 6. Deol also has a high-concept action thriller titled Antony lined up, featuring actress Jyotika.
As for Bhat’s Deadlocked, the film revolves around a former Marine who, while serving jury duty, is thrust back into action when a trial turns into a hostage crisis. The release will be available globally on Prime Video.
