Almost a week remains until the release of Awarapan 2, and the buzz is electric. Fans are eagerly anticipating this sequel due to the success of the first movie, its romantic storyline, the star-studded cast, and a soundtrack that could feature potential hits. The film has already completed its censor review.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted Awarapan 2 a U/A 16+ certificate, though they have requested some edits.
First off, the filmmakers need to add disclaimers regarding the portrayal of drug use and child trafficking. Similar notices will accompany smoking scenes. As per updated regulations, the film’s title must also be displayed in Hindi.
Additionally, a drug use warning is required to appear in the lower right corner during those scenes. The CBFC has requested changes to some vulgar language in both the audio and subtitles. A violent scene in the latter half of the movie must be cut down by 50%. Furthermore, scenes of extreme violence have been deleted in three instances, and a drug-snorting scene in the middle of the film has also been removed.
Once these modifications are completed, Awarapan 2 received its censor certificate on August 5. The total runtime, as per this certificate, is 140.20 minutes, translating to 2 hours and 20 minutes.
Starring Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani, and Shabana Azmi, Awarapan 2 is set to hit theaters on August 14.
Interestingly, Awarapan 2 is the only Hindi film released this month that isn’t labeled with an ‘A’ certificate. It will compete at the box office with Batwara 1947, which has received an adult rating. Another notable release will be Toxic on August 26, followed by Mirzapur The Movie on September 4, both likely to carry an ‘A’ rating as well.
