Maddock Films is making some changes to the release schedule of its upcoming horror-comedy film, Shakti Shalini. This movie is a part of Dinesh Vijan’s growing Horror Comedy Universe and will be the directorial debut of Aneet Padda in this franchise. Originally set to hit the theaters in December 2026, it was expected to compete with Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated film, King. However, recent reports suggest that the film’s makers are now considering a different time frame for its release.
New plans indicate that Shakti Shalini might be released earlier than expected, with the first quarter of 2027, specifically March, being eyed for its debut. Sources shared that while the team initially believed that releasing the film during the Christmas season in 2026 would be ideal—seen as a festive treat—the decision was ultimately influenced by the desire to give Aneet a solo release. This will be her second theatrical film following her notable success in Saiyaara (2025).
The decision to aim for March comes as January and February are already crowded with major releases like Love and War, Golmaal 5, Naagzilla, and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Mupapa. March appears to provide a less congested slot, although a final date has yet to be confirmed.
Shakti Shalini continues the tradition of blending horror and comedy that has become a hallmark of Dinesh Vijan’s productions, which includes hits like Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, this film promises a mix of folklore, supernatural elements, and laughs. The cast features Aneet alongside Vishal Jethwa and the late Nana Patekar, and it introduces a new, female-driven spirit story to enhance the franchise’s narrative landscape.
Currently, post-production is in full swing, with Maddock Films expected to finalize and announce the new release date soon. Until then, the March timeline remains unofficial, but excitement is certainly building among fans.
