The trend of paid previews in Bollywood movies is gaining traction this year. It all kicked off with Dhurandhar The Revenge, which performed exceptionally well in its preliminary showings. This was soon followed by another hit, Bhooth Bangla. Akshay Kumar’s Welcome To The Jungle also benefited from paid previews and saw impressive earnings before its formal release. Recently, Baby Do Die Do held its paid previews on Thursday, July 2, just a day before its full release, and the next film to join this trend is Ohh My Dog.
According to a trade insider, theatres across the country have been notified that Ohh My Dog will have paid previews on Thursday, August 6, before its official release on Friday, August 7. The shows are scheduled between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM, and some cinemas have already started selling tickets for these previews.
Typically, tickets for paid previews can be on the pricier side, matching weekend rates, but Ohh My Dog is breaking that mold. Sources indicate that ticket prices will be set at just Rs. 149 for the previews. Regular weekend pricing will kick in starting Friday.
An insider shared that offering paid previews reflects the filmmakers’ confidence in their project. The lower ticket price is expected to attract viewers, encouraging word-of-mouth promotion, which is crucial for a film without star-studded names.
Ohh My Dog is directed and produced by Amit Rai, known for his work on OMG 2 (2023), and features talented actors like Pankaj Tripathi and Pawan Malhotra.
