Essar Group Plans Major Investment in UK’s Energy Transition
NEW DELHI, Aug 3 — Essar Group has announced plans to invest £4.3 billion (approximately $5.79 billion) in low-carbon energy projects in the UK by the year 2035. This initiative aims to support the country’s shift towards cleaner energy.
Essar Energy Transition Fuels (EETF), a subsidiary of Essar, currently operates the Stanlow refinery, which has a capacity of 200,000 barrels per day.
According to Prashant Ruia, Chairman of EETF, this significant investment will not only aid the UK’s energy transition but is also expected to provide substantial long-term economic benefits and create thousands of skilled jobs.
Out of this total investment, over £1 billion is close to receiving final approval to transform the Stanlow site into a central hub for energy transition activities.
In addition to these projects, Essar is working on expanding its retail presence in the UK, with plans to supply fuels to 800 new locations. The company is also looking into the possibility of building data centers near the Stanlow refinery site.
This ambitious plan underscores Essar’s commitment to contributing to a sustainable energy future while fostering economic growth within the UK.
