Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has stirred up controversy with her remarks about Gen Z protesters involved in recent demonstrations in Delhi and other cities. After watching footage from these protests, Kangana expressed her disapproval of the language used by some of the participants, making headlines with her strong comments.
Kangana described the protesters’ behavior as “puke-inducing” and raised concerns about their upbringing. She criticized the way they expressed themselves, stating, “I’ve never seen so much ugliness in one place.” She also questioned, “Who is raising them?” while expressing her shock at the content of the protest videos.
Taking aim at some protesters who likened themselves to “cockroaches,” Kangana stated that India is known for its diverse beauty and cultural sophistication. She found their self-description a poor reflection on themselves and compared their behavior to the filth they claimed to represent. “I feel scarred from these reels. I need some digital detox,” she added.
Kangana also had pointed words for women at the protests, referring to them as “so-called westernised Indian women.” She accused them of flaunting a lifestyle that includes drugs and partying while living off their parents’ support.
In her social media posts, she labeled them “Generation Gutter,” suggesting that many of them lack the motivation or capabilities to contribute positively to society. This isn’t the first time Kangana has critiqued the student protests; she has previously questioned the effectiveness of their methods and criticized their attempts to influence the government through street demonstrations.
The debate surrounding her comments continues as many weigh in on her remarks and the state of today’s youth.
