Yash Raj Films Welcomes Usha Rachael Thomas as Head of Communications Strategy

Yash Raj Films (YRF), one of India’s leading entertainment companies, has announced the appointment of Usha Rachael Thomas as the Head of Communications Strategy. She will report directly to Akshaye Widhani, the CEO of YRF.

In her new role, Usha will oversee YRF’s communication efforts, focusing on media relations, social media strategies, brand messaging, and talent positioning. She aims to enhance the company’s interactions with both local and global media while overseeing communication strategies across YRF’s various business lines.

Akshaye Widhani praised Usha for her unique insights, saying, “As our businesses expand internationally, the way we share our stories becomes crucial. Usha has a rich history in communications that spans two decades with major media and entertainment companies. Her experience will be invaluable as we develop scalable communication strategies.”

Usha brings a strong background in journalism and brand strategy. Previously, she worked as a journalist with Indiantelevision.com and HT Media. Usha has held leadership positions in Public Relations and Corporate Communications at STAR India and Zee Entertainment Enterprises, playing a key role in developing strategies for some of the most popular shows in Indian television.

Her work has earned her several awards, including an Abby Award Gold for the innovative #ZeeforAll initiative, which featured a first-of-its-kind accessibility option for visually impaired audiences, and a Cannes Lion award for a campaign by Lux. Additionally, she contributed to one of India’s early OTT business studies featuring MX Player, recognized internationally.

Usha is also set to create public relations and social media strategies for YRF’s talented roster, which includes stars like Rani Mukerji, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Sonam Kapoor.

This new appointment marks an exciting chapter for YRF as it continues to grow and adapt in the entertainment industry.
