Actor Muzammil Ibrahim has recently spoken out after comments from a past interview about his former girlfriend, Deepika Padukone, went viral on social media. This interview, originally recorded in 2025 with Siddharth Kanan, has been shared widely, drawing a lot of attention and criticism from users online.

In the interview, Muzammil mentioned that Deepika had proposed to him during their early careers, but he declined her invitation, stating that at the time, she was “just a model” while he viewed himself as a “budding star.” This statement quickly caught fire on social media, especially as Deepika has grown to become one of Bollywood’s leading actresses.

In response to the backlash, Muzammil took to Instagram to clarify his remarks. He noted that the excerpts circulating were not representative of the full conversation and insisted that his words had been taken out of context. He wrote, “The interview being discussed was recorded over a year ago, and what’s being shared are just brief snippets from a longer discussion. The nuance, context, and respect surrounding certain topics can get lost in editing.”

He emphasized that he has no negative feelings towards people from his past and has always tried to speak about them with respect. “I have spent years focusing on my career and my life, and that’s where I hope the conversation stays. I believe in being honest, but I also believe in being respectful,” he added.

During the same interview, Muzammil shared that he and Deepika kept in touch intermittently after their breakup. They would occasionally congratulate each other on their achievements, but eventually drifted apart after Deepika married Ranveer Singh in November 2018. The couple now has a daughter, Dua, and are expecting their second child.

On the work front, Deepika has an exciting lineup, including a film with Allu Arjun and another with Shah Rukh Khan.
