Rohit Chandel Arrested for Alleged Stalking and Harassment
Television actor Rohit Chandel, known for his role in the Star Plus show Sairaab, has recently been arrested by the Mumbai Police after a complaint was filed involving allegations of stalking and harassment against a minor.
The complaint came from a 16-year-old girl who reported that the incidents occurred on July 5 near her home in Mumbai. She claimed that Rohit confronted her, followed her, verbally harassed her, and even physically assaulted her. Acting on her complaint, the Ghatkopar Police arrested the actor and filed charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as well as relevant Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Senior Police Inspector Vitthal Laxman Aardekar of Ghatkopar Police Station confirmed the arrest. He mentioned that Rohit was brought before a court and has been placed in judicial custody. According to the police, Rohit did not deny the accusations; he reportedly admitted to having visited the girl despite her attempts to block him. Their interactions were linked to their work as co-actors.
