Bilateral Meeting on Agricultural Collaboration Between India and Afghanistan

On Wednesday, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met with Mawlawi Ataullah Omari, the agriculture minister of the Taliban-led government of Afghanistan. The meeting took place at the Pusa Campus in New Delhi.

The primary focus of their discussion was to explore ways to strengthen the agricultural partnership between India and Afghanistan. One key topic was the possibility of extending the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the Afghan National Agricultural Science and Technology University, which is set to expire in 2026.

This meeting highlights the ongoing commitment to enhance cooperation in agriculture, aiming to benefit both countries and their farming communities.
