France Advances to FIFA World Cup Semi-Finals with Win Over Morocco
France secured a spot in the FIFA World Cup semi-finals for the third straight time by defeating Morocco 2-0 in Boston on Wednesday. The match started slowly, with both teams unable to find the net in the first half. Morocco’s goalkeeper, Yacine Bounou, made several crucial saves, including stopping a penalty kick from Kylian Mbappe.
The game took a turn in the 60th minute when France’s captain, Mbappe, scored a beautiful curling shot from outside the penalty area, breaking the deadlock. Just six minutes later, Ousmane Dembele extended the lead, finishing a well-crafted play initiated by Mbappe. From there, France maintained control, comfortably leading until the final whistle.
This victory keeps France’s hopes alive for a second World Cup title after their triumph in 2018. Meanwhile, Morocco, which had an impressive tournament run, saw their journey end in the quarter-finals.
