Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha Team Up for a New Comedy
Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha are set to appear as a couple for the first time in an untitled situational comedy directed by Shashie Vermaa. While they’ve worked together before in the popular Fukrey series, this film will showcase them as lead characters opposite each other.
The project is supported by Scenework Productions and Giriraj Productions, with well-known actor Kumud Mishra playing an important role. The story takes place in the lively and bustling city of Delhi, blending humor with real-life emotions and social themes.
Shashie Vermaa, who has performed in films like Bala and Gunjan Saxena, has directed various projects, including AK47 and Murga Trophy. The film is expected to start shooting in the latter half of 2026, with a release planned for April 2027.
Ali Fazal expressed his enthusiasm about the project, saying, “I believe that great comedies come from relatable characters and situations. As soon as I read the script, I felt there was something special about it. I’m thrilled to explore a new dynamic with Richa, and I’ve always admired Shashie’s work.”
Richa Chadha shared her excitement too, adding, “The authenticity and simplicity of the writing drew me in. It’s funny and emotional while touching on everyday life. I’m eager for the audience to see us together in a new light, as we’ve never worked in this way before.”
Director Shashie Vermaa described the film as a comedy focused on real-life situations. He noted, “This story celebrates relationships and how small moments can turn life upside down. Delhi itself plays a key role, and with talented actors like Ali, Richa, and Kumud, we aim to create something special.”
Mukesh Giri from Giriraj Productions highlighted the project’s unique appeal, stating, “The story’s honesty, humor, and universal themes stood out. We are excited to bring Ali and Richa together in a way audiences haven’t seen before.”
This new announcement follows the wrap of Scenework and Giriraj Productions’ recent children’s sports film, Murga Trophy, as they continue to diversify their projects across different genres.
