In the recent edition of Idea Exchange, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma discussed various topics, highlighting the importance of maintaining peace in the state. He mentioned that Assam doesn’t need a “polarizing figure” and that he has successfully managed to keep tensions low. Sarma emphasized that with the public now more law-abiding, there’s less need for constant communication. The Chief Minister also noted that during this year’s Assembly elections, he led the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to a significant win, leaving the Congress party with just 19 seats in the 126-member Assembly.

An investigation is currently underway regarding mismanagement of donated funds at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Earlier, minor cases of theft were brushed aside, but reports suggest that issues escalated during last year’s Maha Kumbh festival when visitor numbers and donations increased dramatically. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has now spoken publicly about the situation, stating that the Trust should take decisive action to amend operational shortcomings. An RSS leader noted that the distressing event has hurt many devotees and highlighted the need for clarity and corrective measures from the Trust and the government’s investigative team.
In a similar incident, the Shri Badarinath Kedarnath Temple Committee ordered an inquiry into claims of mishandled donations at Shri Badrinath Dham. An official from the committee stated that they take the allegations seriously and that they will make the findings public, promising to act against anyone found guilty.
