TEHRAN: Flights between Tehran and Dubai are set to resume on Monday, according to reports from Iranian state media. This announcement comes just weeks after Iran targeted locations in the UAE using drones and missiles amid ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
Ramin Kashefazar, the head of Imam Khomeini Airport in Tehran, confirmed that all necessary preparations have been completed to reopen the flight route to Dubai. Tickets for a flight departing on Monday at 10:40 a.m. local time (0730 GMT) are now available for purchase through the Iranian airline Sepehran’s website.
In the context of the conflict, Dubai’s airport had faced multiple drone attacks, leading to temporary flight suspensions. One notable incident involved a drone crashing near the passenger terminal during the war. While Iran launched attacks in response to US-Israeli actions, officials have stated that their operations aimed at US targets and did not affect civilian areas.
Prior to the conflict, Dubai Airport held the title of the world’s busiest airport for international travelers. However, passenger numbers plummeted by 66 percent year-on-year during the fighting.
Currently, a ceasefire has held since April, despite ongoing skirmishes. The United States and Iran are in the midst of a 60-day negotiation period aimed at reaching a lasting peace agreement.
