Haaland Praises Messi’s Historic Moment

Erling Haaland has everyone talking with his recent comments about Lionel Messi. The young striker from Norway, who has helped his team reach the knockout stage in his first-ever FIFA World Cup, shared a message about Messi after Argentina’s last group match.

On June 28, Lionel Messi made headlines again by scoring in his seventh consecutive World Cup match, helping Argentina secure a routine victory. This remarkable goal pushed his World Cup tally to 19, the highest ever in the tournament’s history.

Messi entered the game around the 60th minute, taking a free-kick that found its way past Jordan’s goalkeeper, Abulaila, who had been performing well until that point. Haaland acknowledged Messi’s brilliance, stating that as long as the Argentinian superstar is in the tournament, he feels his chances of winning the World Cup Golden Boot are slim.

In his first World Cup, Haaland has also shone, netting four goals in just two matches. He was given a rest for Norway’s final group game against France after the team had already qualified for the next round.

MESSI STRIKES AGAIN

Lionel Messi started on the bench after coach Lionel Scaloni made several changes to the team. Argentina quickly took control of the match, scoring through Giovani Lo Celso’s free-kick and a penalty from Lautaro Martinez—both goals were significant as they were the first in the tournament not scored by Messi.

Once he joined the game just past the hour mark, Messi changed the flow of play. While he didn’t need to hold onto the ball much, he became the key player in Argentina’s attack, drawing defenders and creating opportunities.

His chance came in the 80th minute. After winning a free-kick from a familiar spot, Messi curled a beautiful shot into the net, making the score 3-1 and extending his scoring streak. This goal set him apart as the first player to score in seven consecutive World Cups.

With this strike, Messi also reached six goals in the tournament, the highest of any player so far, proving his vital role for Argentina while managing to save his energy for later matches.

What stands out is that Messi achieved this remarkable feat in limited time on the field. Scaloni later mentioned that Messi could have played the entire match but chose to conserve energy for the knockout stages, showcasing Argentina’s careful strategy that balances their title hopes with keeping their star player fresh.

Final Thoughts

As the FIFA World Cup continues, the excitement surrounding Messi and Haaland adds to the tournament’s thrill. Fans can’t wait to see what happens next as these two talented players make their mark on football’s biggest stage.
