The highly anticipated Hollywood movie Supergirl is set to premiere tomorrow, June 26. Before its release, some modifications were required by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to ensure it met Indian viewing standards.
The film received a U/A 16+ rating, but several audio edits were made. The CBFC requested the removal of words like “screwed,” “bitch,” and “balls.” Additionally, the term “whore” was also censored. Interestingly, a 30-minute preview of Supergirl was screened for a select group of fans in Mumbai on June 20, during which one dialogue included the censored word in a humorous context.
Another significant change involved the removal of a visual depicting a middle finger. These edits were completed by June 23, allowing the film to be approved for screening. The final runtime of Supergirl is approximately 1 hour, 49 minutes, and 58 seconds.
In the lead-up to its release, Supergirl faced challenges in securing screening slots, particularly due to the competition from the big Hindi film Welcome To The Jungle. However, the situation has improved slightly, although sources indicate that Warner Bros. is still working hard to secure more showings.
