Nidhi Dutta Launches Ambitious Film Slate at JP Films

Following the success of Border 2, producer Nidhi Dutta has announced an exciting lineup of five new projects at JP Films, the banner established by her father, renowned filmmaker JP Dutta. This diverse slate includes military dramas, a biopic of a celebrated war hero, a digital series highlighting her grandfather, and a treasure-hunt franchise based on Indian history and mythology.

In a recent interview, Dutta shared her vision for the upcoming projects.

Key Projects in Development

One of the standout titles is Border 3, currently in the early stages of development in collaboration with Bhushan Kumar. Dutta emphasized that this third installment continues the legacy of portraying stories of bravery and national pride on a grand scale.

Additionally, JP Films is working on a biopic about General Harbaksh Singh, who played a crucial role in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 and received the Padma Vibhushan award in 1966. Dutta hopes to introduce this important chapter of Indian military history to a younger audience, highlighting the courage of a man who significantly influenced history.

The lineup also includes a contemporary Air Force drama set during and after Operation Sindoor, exploring the personal and emotional ramifications of military service. Dutta described this project as not just action-packed but also a heartfelt narrative about duty, family, and sacrifice.

Expanding the Legacy

Taking a fresh direction, Dutta is also developing a large-scale treasure-hunt action-adventure film, which is intended to kick off a three-part franchise. She mentioned that this would be her first venture into writing for a franchise, with plans for two additional installments following the initial film.

Completing the slate is a long-form digital series focusing on her grandfather, filmmaker OP Dutta. Dutta regards this project as the most personal, aiming to tell a story of perseverance, passion, and family legacy in the face of numerous challenges in the film industry.

Production timelines are currently being finalized, with several of the new projects set to begin filming in the coming months. Dutta assured that more specific announcements will be made soon.
