IPL Final Chaos: GT Players Stranded After Team Bus Breaks Down Post-RCB Defeat in Ahmedabad

Gujarat Titans Experience Scary Ride Home After IPL 2026 Final

The Gujarat Titans had a tense moment after the IPL 2026 final when their team bus had to be evacuated due to a short circuit. This incident took place late Sunday night in Ahmedabad as the team was returning to their hotel following a five-wicket loss to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Reports indicate that smoke filled the bus after the electrical issue caused it to break down, prompting an urgent evacuation of all players and support staff. Fortunately, everyone made it out safely, although they had to wait by the roadside for a while until another bus arrived to take them to their hotel.

This unsettling moment came after a disappointing defeat for the Titans, who were aiming for their second IPL title. In the final, Gujarat only managed to score 155 runs for eight wickets, and RCB chased down that total with ease.

Travel Troubles Add to Their Challenges

This incident was only the latest in a series of challenges for the team. Just days earlier, the Titans faced travel issues that added to the stress of their final week. They journeyed from Dharamsala to Mullanpur on May 27 to prepare for their Qualifier 2 match against the Rajasthan Royals on May 29. However, bad weather significantly delayed their departure to Ahmedabad on May 30, making it hard for them to arrive until late Saturday evening.

These travel troubles raised questions about whether the team’s fatigue contributed to their less-than-stellar performance in the championship game.

No Excuses from the Team

Despite these obstacles, Gujarat’s Director of Cricket, Vikram Solanki, chose not to blame their busy schedule for the loss. During a post-match press conference, he expressed, “I don’t want to diminish RCB’s victory by saying we were tired from so many games in a short time. That’s not our style.”

Solanki acknowledged that Gujarat’s score was below expectations but praised the opposing team for capitalizing on their opportunity. “It was indeed a disappointing score, but we showed resilience in trying to defend it. We may reflect on what we could have done differently, but credit goes to RCB for their performance,” he noted.

While the Titans’ season ended in disappointment, the electric scare during their ride home provided an unexpected twist to an already tough evening.
