Karisma Kapoor Talks About Her New Series ‘Brown’ and Its Challenges

Mumbai, Maharashtra — Actor Karisma Kapoor recently shared her thoughts on her upcoming series, “Brown,” revealing her initial hesitation about taking on the role.

In an interview, Karisma admitted, “At first, I said no to the project. I was worried about spending so many days in Kolkata.” However, after meeting director Abhinay Deo and learning more about her character, she changed her mind. “The character is very complex, but also strong and vulnerable at the same time. I found that intriguing and accepted the role,” she explained.

Reflecting on her career, Karisma expressed how her early start in acting has shaped her approach. “I’ve been working since I was young, so now I prefer to choose projects that resonate with me. If I feel a connection, I’m in; otherwise, I move on,” she shared.

Soni Razdan, another key player in the series, described her experience as unique. She remarked, “This project defies typical mother-daughter tropes, making it really enjoyable. The complexity of my character challenged me, as the director wanted every scene to stay true to the script.”

Jisshu Sengupta, who plays an important role in “Brown,” pointed out the significance of silence in the series. “Silence plays a crucial role in the story. There are certain moments when it speaks volumes, enhancing the emotional impact,” he noted.

Surya Sharma, portraying a police officer named Arjun Sinha, shared insights about his character’s dual life. “He leads an ordinary life, but outside, he faces different challenges, combining both his emotional and professional worlds,” he explained.

Director Abhinay Deo aims for the series to resonate deeply with viewers. He stated, “I want ‘Brown’ to reflect human stories, showing the struggles and fears that we all have. I hope the audience sees themselves in these characters.”

The trailer for “Brown” premiered on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Karisma stars as Rita Brown, a once-revered cop turned alcoholic, navigating her haunted past. The series, described as a “neo-noir psychological crime thriller,” explores the dark and beautiful backdrop of Kolkata.

With an engaging storyline and a talented cast, “Brown” promises to be a thought-provoking series for viewers.
