Trump Dismisses War Concerns in Cabinet Meeting
Washington, D.C.: President Donald Trump held a cabinet meeting on Wednesday where he asserted his commitment to achieving a favorable peace deal with Iran. He downplayed concerns that the ongoing conflict with Iran could hurt Republican performance in the upcoming midterm elections, stating, “I don’t care about the midterms.”
During the meeting, Trump emphasized his determination to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. “They thought they could outwait me. I’m not going anywhere,” he said, reiterating the importance of halting Iran’s nuclear ambitions not only for the U.S. but for the entire world.
Turning to the issue of the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route, Trump stated that it should remain open to all. “It’s international waters. Nobody’s going to take control of it while we are watching over it,” he explained, warning Oman not to interfere in ongoing negotiations regarding the strait.
The President dismissed any notions of a short-term deal that might allow Iran and Oman to manage the area, saying, “Oman will do what it’s told, or there will be consequences.”
Despite not yet achieving a breakthrough in negotiations with Iran, Trump remains optimistic. He expressed hope for a resolution, saying, “We’re not satisfied yet, but we will be.” However, he warned that further unilateral action might be necessary if talks do not progress, simply stating, “We’ll have to finish the job.”
Meanwhile, the White House rejected reports from Iranian state media claiming that Iran and the U.S. had reached a preliminary agreement to ease hostilities, labeling the claims as “complete fabrication.” The White House emphasized that facts matter and urged the public to be cautious about information from Iranian media outlets.
The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial route for global oil supply, and disruptions there can have widespread implications, affecting even nations like India, which relies heavily on oil imports from that region.
