The Manitowoc Public School District is taking steps to promote Mental Health and Wellness Month. They are inviting everyone—students, families, staff, and community members—to join in a Community Walk and Resource Fair on Tuesday, May 26th, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Ron Rubick Field.
Lynette Simonar, a member of the MPSD Community Connections Team, emphasized the importance of fostering a supportive environment for mental health. She stated that the event aims to create a community where mental health is openly valued.
The Community Walk and Resource Fair will offer a variety of wellness activities, raffle prizes, and a chance for families to connect with local support services. Additionally, there will be free yoga classes provided by Waves at 5:15 PM.
Several local organizations will also be present, including the Above and Beyond Children’s Museum, InCourage, the Manitowoc Police Department, and Survivors of Suicide Loss-Manitowoc County, among others.
To further support students, the district is launching a new Mental Health and Wellness Innovation Grant, made possible by contributors to the fair. Applications are open until June 1st, and recipients will be notified by August 1st.
For community members interested in volunteering or donating raffle items, they can reach out to Simonar at 920-686-4737 or via email at simonarl@mpsd.school.
