Settlement Reached in Kaante Dispute

The Bombay High Court has concluded a commercial case between Sanjay Gupta’s White Feather Films and Pritish Nandy Communications after both sides agreed to settle.

Reports indicate that the settlement was confirmed by the court in an order dated April 21, 2026. According to the agreement, Pritish Nandy Communications will receive a payment of Rs 2.55 crores within the next 60 days. This amount is lower than the initial claim of Rs 3.52 crores plus interest. If the payment isn’t made on time, the original legal proceedings will resume.

This dispute goes back to a 2016 arbitration decision related to the film Kaante. The arbitration ruled that White Feather Films had to pay the specified amount to Pritish Nandy Communications. In the years that followed, Pritish Nandy Communications sought various legal options to enforce the arbitration ruling, including property injunction actions since 2020.

The recent settlement marks a significant step towards resolving this matter after a long legal battle. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, Kaante is one of his noteworthy films and features a star-studded cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Kumar Gaurav, and Mahesh Manjrekar.
