Mumbai Police File FIR Against Peter Haag Following Allegations of Abuse
The Mumbai Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Peter Haag, the husband of actress Celina Jaitly, amid claims of cruelty and harassment. The actress lodged a complaint that has now initiated legal proceedings under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Officials confirmed that the FIR is based on Sections 85, 115(2), 351(2), and 352, which address issues like cruelty, causing physical harm, intimidation, and ongoing harassment. This case also intersects with the ongoing proceedings related to the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005.
In a notable development, the Mumbai Police have issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) for Haag, suggesting concerns about his non-cooperation with the investigation. An LOC is typically used in situations where there is a risk that an individual might try to evade questioning or leave the country during an investigation.
The case has gained significant media attention due to Jaitly’s prominence in the film industry. Police officials have stated that the investigation is ongoing, and further actions will hinge on the evidence collected during this inquiry.
So far, neither Peter Haag nor his legal team has made any public comments regarding the allegations. Mumbai Police are actively gathering statements and relevant materials linked to the complaint.
This situation has reignited discussions about domestic violence, the legal protections available for women, and the importance of the newly implemented sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
