Awarapan 2 Sparks Distributor Interest

The film Awarapan (2007) might not have been a hit when it first released, but it has created a strong fanbase over the years due to its memorable songs, heartfelt story, and intense performances, especially by Emraan Hashmi. This rising popularity has people in the film industry excited about the upcoming sequel, Awarapan 2. Last week, many major distributors from the Hindi film world visited the Vishesh Films office, all eager to secure the rights for the film’s release across India.

Several high-profile distributors, including Zee Studios, AA Films, and Jio Studios, were spotted at the meeting. Dharma Productions, which has its own distribution wing, also expressed interest by meeting with Mukesh Bhatt. In addition, representatives from Ananya Birla’s Birla Studios visited, showing their ambition in both producing and distributing films in the future.

An industry source remarked, “It’s like the old days when distributors would compete fiercely to grab the rights to films that looked promising. The buzz around Awarapan 2 is reminiscent of that excitement. The first movie is still fresh in fans’ minds, and many are eagerly sharing memes about their anticipation for the sequel.”

Bhatt has expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming interest from distributors, and he is currently reviewing the offers before making a decision soon. The name of the successful distributor will be announced once the selection is finalized.

The original Awarapan featured a talented cast alongside Emraan Hashmi, including Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, and Ashutosh Rana. It was directed by Mohit Suri, known for its captivating soundtrack composed by Pritam Chakraborty.

In Awarapan 2, directed by Nitin Kakkar (known for Filmistaan and Notebook), Emraan Hashmi will be joined by Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi. The film is set to release in theaters on August 14.
